Sound

The app uses the microphone only while you listen or record. All processing of sound happens on your phone.

While you listen, the app may keep a short stretch of the most recent sound (up to 2 minutes) in the phone's memory, so you can save something you just missed. It is only in memory and is gone when you stop listening, unless you save it.

Recordings

Recordings are saved in the app's own private storage on your phone. They are never uploaded.

• Backup: recordings are excluded from Android's cloud backup to your Google account.
• New phone: if you move to a new phone with a cable or Wi‑Fi transfer that you start, your recordings can move with it.
• Deleting: a deleted recording stays in "Recently deleted" for 30 days, on this phone only, so you can restore it; then it is gone. You can also remove it at once. Uninstalling the app removes all recordings.

When you share

If you share or export a recording, it goes to the app or person you choose. Their privacy terms apply from then on.

No internet, no account, no tracking

The app does not request internet access from Android, so it cannot send anything anywhere. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting in the app. Usage reporting in third‑party libraries used by the app is switched off.

What is kept on your phone

• your settings;
• today's use of the free plan (the free plan has daily limits);
• a small image of your last listening session (not its sound).

If backup is on for your phone, Android may copy the settings and the free‑plan use to your Google account. Sound and recordings are never part of that backup.

Google Play

Depending on your phone's settings, Google Play may collect information about app installs and crashes under Google's Privacy Policy. We only see totals in the Google Play Console, never anything about you.

Buying Pro (when available): Google Play handles the payment. The app learns only whether you have Pro, from Google Play on your phone. We never see your payment details.

Children

Unmuffle does not collect personal data from anyone, children included.

Your rights

Because we never receive data about you, there is nothing about you that we hold, can show you or can delete: your recordings and settings are on your phone, under your control. If you are in the UK, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); elsewhere, your local data protection authority.

Changes

If the app's handling of data changes — for example when purchases arrive, or when other versions of Unmuffle are offered — this page changes with it, with a new date at the top.
